So happy the Chinese place is gone and now the place is fresh and new with friendly Thai owners and cooks.
This place is seriously awesome. So glad I decided to order from them. I've been to Thailand on numerous occasions and this is definitely the place to go to when I'm craving Thai.
I often order from doordash for speedy delivery and accurate orders. When I order pick up, they're always on time and the quality of the food is always consistent.
They really know what they're doing here!
The food is always fresh and well-seasoned (a definite bang for your buck).
I definitely reccomend this place if you enjoy food that is fresh with well-balanced flavors for a reasonable price! -

I would give a zero if I could. Had I realized that this place was related to the Spicy Thai on Van Dyke (6 of us threw the food out it was so bad), I would never have ordered.
If you are used to "GOOD" Thai food, do not eat here. It is a waste of money.
I have eaten Thai all over the country and these are the two worst Thai restaurants I have even eaten at.
The Pad Thai was not even edible which is a hard dish to mess up. The Curry sauces are also awful. They also put very strange items in their food that generally don't even exist at a Thai restaurant.
I would never ever recommend anyone eat here! -

Unimpressive food.
Ordered tofu in a carry out dish and got chicken instead. Both dishes, the spicy Szechwan and Drunken Noodle were boring and everything was cooked too long as all the veggies were soggy. The spring rolls and tofu talad were the only things that warranted a two star. -

Spicy Thai Kitchen is OPEN for business!! As of 6-3-19 they are serving up yummy, delicious, authentic Thai cuisine!!
Let's back up for a second....
Two weeks ago I noticed that the Chinese restaurant, Chinese Express, did not have its "Open" sign on, and that the window displayed a giant white sign. Upon squinting my eyes (yes I had my contacts in) I focused in on what read "Coming Soon Spicy Thai Kitchen". What!? I was instantly intrigued and curious! Was this going to be the same Spicy Thai that's located in Van Dyke?? I had to call and find out! The short and sweet phone call to the Van Dyke location confirmed that the sign I saw on Hayes was in fact going to be their 2 location!! Yes- a SECOND location! I was told that they were remodeling the entire place and expected to open within 2 weeks! I told the employee how excited I was, and how much I loved their food! I couldn't wait for them to open! You could sense the appreciation and excitement too in the employees voice.
Well, fast forward to this past Monday. Heading home from errands, I called the Van Dyke location and asked if the new location (Hayes) was open- and would you know it- I was told it was! And that today (6/3/19) was their 1st day! I was already heading towards it, so in I was going!
There's so much more that transpired while I was there, like meeting all the owners, the staff and the interior designer. Talking with everyone about details of their new sister location. All of us excited for this new location! But I'll spare you all that and get to the food.
I eagerly ordered all 3 of the soups they offer, all with chicken as the protein, all mild spice. I also ordered the Pad Pak with chicken and mild spice too. The Pad Pak is one of my go to dishes at any Thai restaurant. I've had it many times at their original location on Van Dyke and it never disappoints. Here is was equally as delicious. It's a stir fried dish of 13 veggies and the protein of your choice. It comes in a light brown sauce with a side container of rice, your choices being either white or brown.
The protein choices are plentiful here. Chicken, beef, pork, fried or steamed tofu or veggie will run you $8.50. Shrimp, scallops, or crabmeat cost $9.50, and the seafood combination protein choice is $10.75. There is only one size dish here, and no lunch or dinner order. It's a "one size fits all" type of thing. The portions are generous and with all the perfectly cooked rice they give you, one order can definitely make for 2 meals. They do offer 3 fish dishes with the option being only catfish, those cost $10.95.
They have 6 different appetizers, 3 amazing soups and Thai ice tea and coffee. They original location has shrimp chips, but I haven't seen any at this location yet- I'll ask. next time I go.
Oh those soups- they are delicious!!
All 3 of them! Perfectly soothing, with a depth of flavor that hard to put into words. The traditional Tom Yum, coconut infused Tom Kha, and my favorite the Gha Lowl with tons of bean sprouts and cilantro are all highly recommended! And at only $2 per pint, I say get all 3 and have a soup party I like do!
What used to be the smelly, dingy, broken and brushed Chinese Express is now the NEW Spicy Thai Kitchen, sister to the original Spicy Thai on Van Dyke. Freshly remodeled and open for dine in or carry out. The employees are super friendly, grateful and appreciative of your business. Look for the giant white lawn sign on Hayes and stop in for some fresh authentic Thai cuisine! You won't be disappointed. -

All the people saying that the food is "under-flavored" or "bad" have no clue what they are talking about. In terms of Thai food in the Macomb County area, this is the best in terms of authentic flavor. Are there areas it could improve? Sure, just like any other restaurant. But after getting back from a month long trip to SE Asia, including Thailand, I can say the flavor of the food is spot on. I would highly recommend eating here.
